Bora Bora is located in French Polynesia in an archipelago of islands named the "Iles Sous le Vent". It's located in the southern hemisphere about halfway between Australia and South America; it's in the same time zone as Hawaii.

Air Tahiti offers five to six flights every day (about 40 minutes), departing from Papeete, the capital of Tahiti, to Bora Bora. Air Tahiti .

What is the best time of the year to visit Bora Bora?  (return to the top)

French Polynesia enjoys a nearly uniform climate year-round. Sunshine is important with an annual average of eight hours of sunshine each day). The annual thermal fluctuation is small (1 to 7 degrees Fahrenheit): the temperature reaches a maximum of 86 to 90 degrees during the day and a minimum of 68 degrees at night. The temperature of the water in the lagoon varies throughout the year between 77 and 88 degrees.

The climate is made up of two seasons: the dry season and the humid season.

The dry season or "southern winter", from April through October, brings in an eagerly-awaited coolness (between 75 and 82 degrees), the months July and August being the coolest, with the southeast trade winds, called the "maraamu". A cotton sweater is often appreciated in the evenings.

The humid season, called the rainy season, from November through March, brings frequent and abundant rain compared to the dry season.

Water visibility is generally very good, about 60 to 150 feet. The average temperature of the lagoon is 82 degrees in winter and 86 degrees in summer. There is not a notable temperature variation between the surface and 30 feet.

No, no experience is needed, except to know how to walk! This activity is accessible to everyone, eight years and older (pregnant women and people with asthma or serious health problems may not participate).

Aqua Safari offers transportation, free of cost, departing from your hotel, pension, or boat by boat taxi directly from the dock of the hotel or by Land Rover (please consult the map by clicking on your lodging for more precise directions).

No. Aqua Safari will provide you with all the equipment necessary, free of additional charge. Just bring a beach towel and sunscreen.

What types of fish will I see?  (return to the top)

Bora Bora is the habitat for a rich variety of fish (over 500 species), and the Aqua Safari team is pleased to help you discover them. You will walk among butterfly fish as well as a multitude of other tropical fish.

Perhaps you will even have the chance to admire manta rays, sting rays, leopard rays, and moray eels.

A fish identification card is ready for each participant.

At Bora Bora, sharks are not aggressive like they can be in other regions of the world. As the dive is situated in the lagoon at a shallow depth, encountering a shark is very rare.
